Everything rises and falls on leadership. The struggle in today’s society is this myth that leadership is about power, authority, title or position. It’s not. I believe leadership can be summed up in one word – INFLUENCE. In life we influence. First and foremost I have to be able to influence myself. Once I am leading myself well and in an honest way, it is only then that I will be able to influence others. Following is what makes leadership special. Because people have to believe in who you are as a person before they are ever going to act on something you ask of them. Leading and following is about who you are. I am going to lead and follow with transparency. How I show up for myself and how I show up for you is vitally important to me. We have to be present and real.

As human beings we are hard-wired for connection and it is through connection we find meaning. So much of life is about relationships. How we do life together matters. I believe the more transparent I am, the more people are drawn to me. We all have a story. Our lives are the story. Sharing our imperfections and challenges empowers us to be our true selves. Some people will choose to remain surface level, but I choose to go deeper. I find connection to be more meaningful when I’m curious with a person and ask questions that make them think. When you’re around me…I’m going to “make it real”. And I’m not spending time with you. I’m investing time with you.

Get out there and do what you were made to do. I believe in making a specific plan and taking action. Being laser focused and crystal clear about movement forward is key to growth. Live on purpose.

I am in the people business. Life is about relationships. True relationships endure. They are steady and persistent through success and adversity. Who I am – you can count on. These core beliefs guide my life and my work. How I show up and operate for you is lasting and enduring no matter the challenges. There are no surprises in life. Only the waves of the ocean to ride.
